The "Blue Monday" phenomenon is based on the claim that there is anequation that takes into account numerous variables that negatively influence people's mood and calculates that the most depressing day of the year is the third Monday in January.

When we are told, we should feel blue...chances are we latch on to the excuse to be a little melancholy and go with it. There is enough little life niggles that get us down on a day to day basis that if there is someone spouting an equation that tells us that everyone is feeling like that today, we will jump on that bandwagon.
But looking out the window, everything is covered in snow. Granted I am snowed in and working from home which is not ideal but there is something about snow that does seem magical. It covers up all the ugly with a fresh clean slate. It makes London look pretty, which in the cold light of day is not always an easy thing to do.
The air my be cold at the moment but it you stay outside long enough it wakes you up and makes you feel refreshed...so instead of being blue this monday...I am simply choosing not to be.
Cheer up all...there's always something worth smiling about, but very few things worth feeling 'blue' about!

I agree that London looks cleaner and newer in the snow. Today hasn't been all that bad, my twitter feed is full of people who need to man up though... the hashtag bluemonday seems to give people an excuse to tell me all their problems xxx
ReplyDeleteHa this is what I mean, give us an excuse to moan and we cling to it with every possible thing we have to whine about
